I bought the cookbook with it and it can even do crackers. Good ole' Ebay, we found a refurbished one for cheaper, plus free shipping. Its great, although its bigger than a toaster oven, so make some room somewhere. It is by far the biggest best dehydrator out there.

I had a cheap $3 yard sale one before that and everything would congeal to it. Plus it didn't dry evenly.Duffeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04237820410516436544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-962720036779527012010-02-24T13:41:47.131-07:002010-02-24T13:41:47.131-07:00oh, i tried to make fruit leather in my stove. i ...oh, i tried to make fruit leather in my stove. i was so excited, but ended up so disappointed. i really wanted it to work so i wouldn't have to buy it.Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04051175511763977534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-46404429476500764472010-02-24T13:40:25.550-07:002010-02-24T13:40:25.550-07:00i am convinced! gotta find one! snack foods are ...i am convinced! gotta find one! snack foods are the hardest for me with brax which is why i usually cave in that department and buy the puffs or baby rice crackers. everything else i have been able to make fresh or buy organic. i think this will really help with finger foods for all the kids!Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04051175511763977534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-87304536673666730242010-02-24T07:00:24.370-07:002010-02-24T07:00:24.370-07:00Hayli - The "fruit tray" is just for mak...Hayli - The "fruit tray" is just for making fruit leather. Something I haven't had much success with anyway (I either make it too thin and it shreds when I try to peel it off, or too thick and it takes forever to set up. And with just one tray, you can't make much at a time either.

My favorite so far is dried strawberries. An egg-slicer works great for cutting them to even thicknesses, and is a great job for little ones.monkeyfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02524839924887352344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-66193325543119583812010-02-23T14:36:02.471-07:002010-02-23T14:36:02.471-07:00Yummy thats really good.Yummy thats really good.Memory Powerhttp://memoryimprovementcentral.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-85735302284139188342010-02-23T13:58:56.282-07:002010-02-23T13:58:56.282-07:00Oh, that sounds delicious. Fortunately, I was able to return it. I've debated getting another one like it.

This summer I'd like to try building a solar dehydrator. Anybody tried that one? I'm considering it. Also, mine seems to be missing the top tray a.k.a. the "fruit tray" so all I have are slotted trays - problem for dehydrating fruit? I assume not, but not sure.Hayli @ Superior Nuthttp://www.superiornutstore.com/dried-pears.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-36217683313689212092010-02-23T09:20:33.300-07:002010-02-23T09:20:33.300-07:00I have an Excalibur and I LOVE it!

My grandparents had a pear tree which meant free fruit for us! I've never been a huge fan of canned pears but love them raw or dried. You're right, they did taste like candy! Pear sauce is also really good if you're looking for another way to use them.

I'm looking for a dehydrator at a yard sale too. :-)Mary Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03129793790973176351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-21376681407827571692010-02-23T08:07:40.412-07:002010-02-23T08:07:40.412-07:00Personally, I'm going to wait until I find one...Personally, I'm going to wait until I find one at a garage sale. But I have one to borrow for the time being. I love dried fruit for snacks for the kids, so if I didn't have one to borrow I most likely would buy one.

The thing about Excaliburs, is you can do yogurt in them too, which would be neat. They hold it at a good constant temperature. I think for yogurt you need the biggest one, so that's even more $Carahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04253120851598570692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776297020223769372.post-89676593998499642742010-02-23T07:58:28.455-07:002010-02-23T07:58:28.455-07:00MMMM...
