Giveaway: Real Food for Mother and Baby

Real Food for Mother and Baby by Nina Planck is such a fun encouraging book to read.  Nina explains what nutrients are needed to grow a healthy baby while pregnant, what to eat while breastfeeding, and what we really want baby to eat during their first couple years of life.  She writes in an easy and nonjudgmental style that I love; I can feel comfortable passing this book out to friends that I know are trying to conceive or are expecting and they won't feel condemned because of it.  You can read my longer review back here.

Oh, I love this book-I just checked it out from the library because a friend had a baby and I wanted to get more info on what food to bring her. I know I am going to make some changes now to make sure we are in the best of health when we start having kids.

I downloaded her handout on baby food -- for myself! My 18-month-old is a carb lover, and I'm hoping to do a better job with my 5-month-old.

I love that Nina started the first farmer's markets in London! I used to live in London for a short time. Seems like a perfect place to start that sort of thing.

I'm going to print up the hand out for my newly pregnant best friend! Just found out a couple of weeks ago and she is open to eating healthier (especially with her first baby on the way), but like most, she is largely uneducated about Real Food. These will be good guidelines for her! Thanks!

I printed out a handout to give to my newly pregnant sister in law, who asked me "what should I eat when I'm pregnant?" What a perfect handout to give her!!

I also loved that the doctor rubbed her with olive oil. I've never heard of that, but it sounds a lot better than Johnson & Johnsons!

She's my kind of mom! She didn't listen to the so-called "experts" but did her own research and trusted real foods. I can't wait to read her book. If I don't win, I'll be forced to buy my own copy! :)

By the way, if I only read your blog post in my email and don't visit your blog, does it count as a hit on your blog?

I love that she was raised on a farm and fed raw milk from the family cow. That is my dream - to give that life to my children. Probably won't happen until my children are grown - but we do have chickens!
Nina Planck was the catalyst for changing my family to the NT style of eating (or at least trying)! I met Nina Planck at a book signing/meeting here in Northern California when her first book came out. She was pregnant then with her first child and she was the most adorable pregnant person! And she was so down to earth. So glad to have had that experience.

I find it fascinating that she came out of so many different food lifestyles (vegan, vegetarian, non-fat, etc.) and was happiest and healthiest on the one her mother raised her on: a complete diet including pure animal products and fresh farm vegetables. I was once a vegetarian, and while my body probably needed the detox for a bit, I'm happily back to eating animal products, and good ones at that!

Thanks for the giveaway!

Thanks for the great offer. I read about Nina and also will be giving the handouts to a mom that will be visiting me soon.

Very interesting youth Nina had growing produce with her family and selling at local market at the age of 9. What a way to put a passion in a child's heart for something good!

Sounds like a woman with a lot to share.
